New Bruins forward wins one-sided battle

In addition to centering the Bruins’ best line early in the season, new Boston center Mark Kastelic has proven himself as a capable and entertaining fighter.

Kastelic was in his second fight of the season against Luke Schenn in the first period.

It wasn’t clear what caused the trouble between them, but after a confrontation 3:15 into the first period, both immediately dropped the gloves. Kastelic first got his right hand free and got to work.

Kastelic threw 15 punches, all with his right hand, almost all of them hooks. He landed more than half of them. Schenn didn’t throw a punch, let alone a punch. He just tried to hold on before he finally lost his balance.

Some of Kastelic’s shots hit Schenn’s helmet and shield. After spending his five minutes in the penalty area, he headed to the locker room for the remainder of the period before returning for the second.

It was a decidedly different result from his first battle with AJ Greer in the season opener, when he never got a set.

Kastelic is in his first season with the Bruins. He was an unknown part of the Linus Ullmark business, but so far he is thriving.
