Two women clash at Noida district hospital, video goes viral

A video of a violent argument between two women that took place at Noida’s district hospital in Sector 39 on Monday was widely shared online on Tuesday, raising concerns over overcrowding and tension at the hospital’s outpatient department (OPD).

The incident occurred after a woman tried to move her young daughter ahead in line at the OPD. But the offer sparked a heated argument with the woman standing behind them. It quickly escalated into a physical fight, hospital officials said.

Some onlookers captured the altercation on camera and posted it on social media.

The video clip reportedly showed the two women engaged in a physical struggle with a female security guard who unsuccessfully tried to separate them. It continued until additional security personnel arrived and separated them.

Hospital authorities said neither woman had filed a complaint on the matter.

“The scuffle between the two patients arose out of a personal dispute and did not relate to the management or services of the hospital. The hospital played no role in the confrontation. Both the patients, who are still unidentified, left the premises soon after the incident,” said Dr Renu Agarwal, chief medical superintendent (CMS), Noida district hospital.

The incident took place at a time when the district hospital OPD is witnessing a daily influx of around 2,000 patients, largely due to seasonal diseases.

Meanwhile, the incident has also sparked debate over the hospital’s ability to manage patient flow and ensure an orderly environment. “Small disagreements often occur in the hospital due to the high patient load. But such violence in a public place is unusual. These types of incidents make things more difficult for everyone,” said AK Gautam, a resident of Noida.
