Prince William has responded to Ally McCoist as Aston Villa secured a third successive Champions League win to continue their dream start to the competition.

Unai Emery’s side recorded a 2-0 win over Bologna to maintain their 100 percent record in the competition.

Second-half goals from John McGinn and Jhon Duran saw Aston Villa get past the Serie A outfit.

Co-commentator Ally McCoist joked during the match whether Aston Villa supporter Prince William would have been among the fans watching the sidelines.

Prince William responded to a message highlighting the Villains being the first team to play three games in the Champions League this season, confirming he watched the match.

Prince William and McCoist have praised Aston Villa’s performance in the Champions League so far.

The pair had discussed the club when McCoist received his OBE last month, ahead of Aston Villa’s stunning win over Bayern Munich.

“This is such a proud moment for myself and my family. I am humbled to receive my OBE from Prince William at Windsor Castle today,” McCoist said last month.

‘I am of course very aware that the prince is an Aston Villa fan. They have a really, really big game tonight that I think he’s going to play. So we talked about that, and really just about working in broadcasting and life.”
