A Fond du Lac County man is seriously injured by fireworks

FRIENDSHIP, Wis. (WBAY) – A 41-year-old man has been hospitalized after a fireworks explosion Monday evening, severely damaging his left hand.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office says the man was disassembling fireworks with power tools on White Pine Rd. in friendship when a spark ignited the powder in the fireworks in his hand.

The man applied a tourniquet to his left arm before help arrived from the sheriff’s office, Van Dyne Fire Department and North Fond du Lac Ambulance.

The man also suffered injuries to his chest and face.

The Theda Star medical helicopter was called to the scene and airlifted him to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah.

We do not know the man’s condition at this time.
