“ICDS centers will remain closed during this period. Tourism activities in coastal towns have been halted. Fishermen who ventured into the Bay of Bengal were told to turn back,” Banerjee added.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted that a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is likely to turn into a severe cyclonic storm on October 23 and hit the coasts of Odisha and West Bengal on October 24. heavy rain until Friday.

Wind speeds are likely to reach 60 kilometers per hour (km/h) along the coastline, increasing to 100-110 km/h, with gusts up to 120 km/h, from October 24 at night to October 25 in the morning, it said IMD.
