Blackpink’s Lisa will headline Thailand’s New Year Countdown Party, Prime Minister confirms

BANGKOK (The Nation Thailand/ANN): Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has confirmed that Lalisa Manobal, known worldwide as Lisa of K-pop group Blackpink, will participate in Thailand’s New Year’s Countdown event at ICONSIAM Mall.

During a cabinet meeting at Government House, Paetongtarn expressed his excitement about the event and responded positively when asked about Lisa’s involvement.

The Prime Minister clarified that the event is mainly organized by the private sector, although she was unsure if all arrangements had been finalized.

“While the private sector is fully operational, I’m not entirely sure what the next steps are,” she acknowledged.

Expressing her pride, she added that the government would congratulate Lisa not only for being a beloved Thai icon but also for her global recognition.

“If you actually get a queue, I think it will be very exciting,” she noted.

In a light-hearted exchange, when asked if she wanted to attend the performance, Paetongtarn playfully replied, “Do you have a ticket? Do you want to go? It’s a private matter,” accompanied by laughter.

The Cabinet meeting also included remote participation of several officials, such as Theerarat (Aim) Samrejvanich, Deputy Minister of the Interior, and Lieutenant General Natthapon Nakpanich, Minister of Defense, who is currently overseeing flood response operations at the Flood Victim Assistance Operation Center .

However, three Cabinet members were absent from the meeting: Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labor; Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation; and Paopoom Rojanasakul, Deputy Minister of Finance.

Their absence raises concerns about ongoing issues within their respective ministries as the country prepares for New Year celebrations. – The Nation of Thailand/ANN
