VP of Chinese car company faces backlash after video shows him eating hotpot in car

A senior executive of a car company in China sparked backlash after sharing a video of himself enjoying a hot pot meal in a new car model from his company, aiming to promote its multi-functional use and air filtration system.

Yang Dacheng, vice president of Zeekr Intelligent Technology – a listed electric car manufacturer controlled by Geely Auto – shared a video on Weibo on October 11 in which he and his team sit around a small table with an electric stew and various dishes in it. the new Zeekr MIX model.

The video showed Yang and his guests turning the front seats into the back, placing an extendable table between them and preparing a hot pot meal, complete with tripe, crispy pork, vegetables and four dips.

Yang highlighted the car’s efficient and comfortable air conditioning and even suggested that the car was spacious enough to play mahjong indoors.

He also stated: “Product development should always include real user feedback, and our collaboration with users during the design of the Zeekr MIX was perfect.”
