As part of their Wanted Wednesday social media campaign, Sarnia police released a poster on Oct. 2 with a photo of Matthew Tasker, 33, who was wanted on charges of criminal intimidation, burglary, trespassing and uttering threats. The poster featured a photo of Tasker wearing a gray hoodie with short brown hair and a clean-shaven face.

Police asked anyone who knew where he was to contact them or the local chapter of Crime Stoppers, but they also warned the public not to confront or attempt to arrest anyone wanted by police.

In an update Friday, Sarnia police published a new version of the poster on social media with an “arrested” banner placed over Tasker’s photo.

Tasker has been in custody since his arrest. Wearing standard orange clothing, he appeared briefly in a Sarnia courtroom Monday via video link from the Sarnia jail. All of his arraignments have been postponed until later this week.

Tasker faces a total of five sets of charges, all filed this year, records show.

Another person recently featured in the Sarnia Police Wanted Wednesday social media campaign linked to a gun call at East and Wellington streets on September 29 around 2 p.m. was also arrested last week, Sarnia police said. Kevin Racette, 34, who is facing a long list of charges including armed robbery, was arrested by the OPP in Corunna on Wednesday, is also being held in Sarnia prison and will return to court later this month.
