A Brookhaven man shot himself while testing his firearm.

State Police were dispatched to the 600 block of Chester Creek Road in Middletown Township for a shooting Sunday afternoon at 4:51 p.m. The victim reports that he shot himself in the finger.

Troopers said that during the subsequent investigation, it was determined that the 54-year-old man had tested Sig Sauer’s claims about the trigger sensitivity of his firearm, causing him to shoot himself in the left index finger, causing minor injuries.

The subject was transported to Crozer Chester Medical Center with minor injuries to that finger.
