3 sentenced to death for killing army personnel in Narayanganj

A court in Narayanganj has sentenced three men to death for the murder of Shahin Alam, an army personnel, who was stabbed to death by robbers in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj.

Abu Shameem Azad of the Narayanganj District and Sessions Court delivered the verdict today (October 21) in the presence of two of the accused.

The convicted persons are Jibon, son of Ali Hossain of CI Khola area of ​​Siddhirganj, Sumon Mia, son of Shawkat Ali of Mizmizi Batanpara, and Jummon Mia, son of Aslam Mia of the same area.

Sumon Mia is still in hiding among the suspects.

Advocate Salah Uddin Bhuiyan Sabuj, the plaintiff’s lawyer, said: “On the night of January 15, 2022, Shahin Alam, who was serving in the army in Patuakhali, was on his way home to Chandpur on a seven-day leave. On his way, he was planning to stay overnight at his friend Farhan Habib’s house in Hirajhil area of ​​Siddhirganj.

“While he was passing through the Mouchak area, robbers intercepted him and tried to take his wallet and mobile phone. When he resisted, they stabbed him and fled the scene,” he added.

Shahin was taken to hospital in critical condition, where the attending physician declared him dead.

After the incident, Shahin’s elder brother, Saiful Islam, filed a case.
After the testimony of fourteen witnesses, the court sentenced the three to death, the lawyer said.

Saiful Islam, the victim’s elder brother, expressed his satisfaction over the verdict and said, “I am happy with the verdict. I hope the verdict is carried out quickly and the fugitive suspect is arrested soon.”
