Producer Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor have been legally charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act for showing inappropriate scenes involving minors in the ALT Balaji web series ‘Gandi Baat’.

Mumbai Police have registered the case against Balaji Telefilm Limited, Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor at MHB police station. The allegations center on season 6 of Gandi Baat, which streamed on the OTT platform between February 2021 and April 2021.

According to the complaint, the series contained lewd scenes involving underage girls. However, the specific episode in question is no longer available for streaming on the platform.

The complaint alleges that young actors dressed in school uniforms are depicted engaging in inappropriate and obscene behavior.

In compliance with the court’s directive, the police have invoked several provisions of the POCSO Act, including Sections 13 and 15, as well as Section 67(a) of the Information Technology Act, the Women’s Prohibition Act and Sections 292, 293 and 295(a) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The charges are intended to tackle the abuse of minors and ensure their protection from obscene material.

So far, there has been no official statement from ALTBalaji or the producers on the matter.
