JSO says woman and baby found safe after investigation into reports of ‘suspicious incident’

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a woman and an infant were identified and safely located Sunday morning after a reported “suspicious incident” on Baymeadows Road near Philips Highway.

According to JSO, witnesses saw the woman enter a business holding a child and asked employees to call 911.

Shortly afterwards, a man drove into the parking lot in a dark-colored crossover SUV. He then entered the business, grabbed the woman and child and led them to the backseat of the SUV, police said.

The man then drove away with the woman and child in an unknown direction, police said.

Due to the circumstances, police have sought the community’s help to gather more information to ensure the safety of those involved.

JSO announced that the woman and baby were found safe on Sunday around 1 p.m.
