Arizona Dad confronts an intruder who tries to kidnap his child

PAGE, AZ (AZFamily) – A man is in jail after allegedly breaking into a home and trying to kidnap a child in Northern Arizona on Friday.

Just after 7:15 p.m., officers responded to a neighborhood in Page, Arizona, after reports that a man had broken into a home.

Before officers could arrive on the scene, the suspect fled the scene.

As detectives investigated, they learned that a resident of the home was in a bedroom on the phone when he heard noises coming from the living room. When he entered the room, he saw another man he didn’t know sitting in a chair next to his young child.

The boy’s father told the unknown man to leave his house. The suspect then allegedly tried to grab the child. At that point, the father punched the suspect in the face.

Officers began searching the area for the suspect and later found him near The Bowl, a bowling alley near Navajo Drive and Lake Powell Boulevard. He attempted to evade arrest but was successfully taken into custody by officers.

The man was taken into custody at the Coconino County Jail. His identity, charges and mugshot have not been released.

Detectives are still investigating the case.
