Antiques Roadshow guest refuses to sell falcon sculpture with staggering value | Television and radio | Showbiz and TV

A guest on Antiques Roadshow was stunned to learn of the high rating of his falcon sculpture, despite refusing to sell it.

The BBC show was at Crystal Palace Park in South East London last October and during the 2023 episode a guest revealed he had come into possession of a falcon sculpture.

Will Farmer investigated how the guest came into possession of the ceramic masterpiece, revealing that his late aunt was given it by famous ceramicist Ken Bright.

Ken, who studied at Goldsmiths, used to go to bird observatories to study birds of prey.

They both discovered it was made in December 1978, when Ken was at the height of his ceramic career.

The real question was how much the falcon was worth, but much to Will’s disappointment, the guy didn’t want to sell it.

Will said, “I love it. I really, really love it,” to which the guest snapped back. “I’ll keep it anyway.”

As Will chuckled, he said, “I know you’re keeping it, unfortunately.

“So I’m going to say that if it were to come on the market – great name, iconic piece for his work and what he does – I think it could go up to about a thousand pounds.”

“Very nice,” said the guest. “I’m still not going anywhere.”

‘She would kill me. My aunt will be turning in her grave.”

Will smiled and said, “Well, you know what? It’s nice that you have a bond with her.’

Also during the episode, Mark Smith discovered a cigar belonging to Winston Churchill, while Justin Croft spotted some rare early edition James Bond books.

Antiques Roadshow airs on BBC One.
