Daily Monitor reports that the trio allegedly killed and dumped Ariho Elijah, a baby aged one year and ten months, and 19-year-old Ainembabazi Mellon.

The victims were found dead after an alleged kidnapping plan went tragically wrong.

Innocent Namanya, 33, a businessman and father of the deceased child, Janepher Nuwahereza, 33, an apostle at the Healers Church Ministry, and Alex Mutesigensi, 34, a boda boda rider, are facing three counts of kidnapping and murder.

Prosecutors allege that Namanya, in collusion with his second wife, Apostle Nuwahereza, orchestrated the kidnapping and subsequent murder of his son, Ariho.

On October 6, Namanya reportedly hired Ainembabazi to kidnap his mother’s child, Create Natukunda, during a church service.

However, Ainembabazi is said to have refused to hand the child over to Mutesigensi because he suspected a sinister plot.

Instead, she took the child to her home, where the suspects tracked her down and killed both Ainembabazi and the child.

They threw their bodies into a river after packing them in a bag full of rocks.

Their bodies were later retrieved by the police and sent to Itojo Hospital for autopsy.

Authorities revealed that Namanya and Natukunda had ongoing domestic violence disputes, which were already in court.

While presiding over the case, Magistrate Edgar Kakuru stated:

‘I hope you have heard the charges, but this court has no jurisdiction. You will be tried before the Supreme Court.”

The three suspects were held until November 28 for further hearings.

The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, especially among members of the Healers Church Ministry.

Some congregants recalled a recent sermon by Apostle Nuwahereza in which she claimed to have had a divine dream that foretold her arrest but promised that God would deliver her.

“How can an apostle steal someone’s husband and claim to follow Christ?” Denis Tumuhairwe, a resident, was critical.

Many have expressed outrage over the incident and questioned the growing influence of independent religious movements.
