NYC Hiring: These entry-level jobs require minimal experience and no civil service exam

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — There are currently nearly 350 entry-level jobs available in New York government – ​​many of which do not require a civil service exam and require minimal on-the-job experience.

According to the JobsNYC portal, there are a number of open positions across the five boroughs, most of them full-time, for various city agencies. Job titles include everything from Catch Basin Inspector to Public Health Assistant.

Here’s a look at some of the spots currently available on Staten Island, according to the portal:

Community Liaison for the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office, $24 – $30 per hour

Develops and delivers presentations and initiatives that raise awareness about issues such as the drug epidemic, gun violence, domestic violence, identity theft and more. Regularly collaborates with the NYPD, government agencies, elected officials and other stakeholders with the goal of building effective communications, improving relationships and promoting a positive public image.

Office Worker, Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, $45,040 – $51,796 per year

Reporting to the Director, the Office Assistant will support the Staten Island Office of the NYC Early Intervention Program to ensure smooth office operations and support the processing of children’s cases. The Office Assistant performs receptionist duties in person and on the telephone, greeting families and caregivers. They also help manage electronic records, create Microsoft Word documents, send emails using Microsoft Outlook, and perform other administrative/office tasks.

Supervisor Painter, Department of Transportation, $57.90 per hour

The Department of Transportation is hiring a Supervisor Painter to report to the Ferry Maintenance Facility. The supervisor painter is responsible for the work of painters and other assigned personnel in connection with interior and exterior painting work on commercial and industrial DOT properties and performs related activities.

Case Management Associate, Department of Social Services, $45,329 – $52,128 per year

The Office of Child Support Services (OCSS) is recruiting two caseworkers to conduct interviews for the purpose of completing child support applications, preparing case files, and locating non-custodial parents. Interviews take place both in person and by telephone.

Cancer Case Management Nurse, FDNY, $106,301 per year

The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) is seeking a full-time Case Management Nurse with the Bureau of Health Services, World Trade Center Program on Staten Island. The successful candidate will report directly to the WTC Nursing Supervisor and will maintain a comprehensive case management system for the WTC Oncology Program in the FDNY WTC Medical Monitoring and Treatment Program for active and retired members of the FDNY.
