New Xbox Game Pass game is the most inappropriate yet

Xbox Game Pass has been updated with a new game, and it might be the subscription service’s most inappropriate game yet. In the United States, there are not many restrictions on video game releases. Whether it’s excessive violence, sexual content, drugs or other adult content, it’s all allowed, within reason. However, there are some games that push the line between an M-rated game and one that deserves an adults-only rating. The latest Xbox Game Pass game is definitely one of these games.

The mysterious Xbox Game Pass game dates back to 2017. The biggest releases of that year – as many will remember – include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Persona 5, PUBG, Horizon Zero Dawn, Divinity: Original Sin II, Cuphead, NieR Automata, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, What Remains of Edith Finch, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice and Call of Duty: WWII. These were some of the best games of 2017. However, the most inappropriate game was undoubtedly South Park: The Fractured but Whole, which is what you would expect from a South Park game.

For those unfamiliar with the game, it is an RPG developed by Ubisoft and a sequel to 2014’s South Park: The Stick of Truth. Unfortunately for Ubisoft it was not as well received as the first game, which was by a different team was made, namely Obsidian Entertainment. However, it still did well enough, both commercially and critically.

Considering this, it was one of the best-selling games in its month of release. Meanwhile, scores on Metacritic range from 79 to 84, varying across the platform. And now it’s free with Xbox Game Pass or, more specifically, the PC, Ultimate, and Standard tiers. It was not made available through Xbox Game Pass Core.

We do not know how long the game will be available via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Standard and PC. It’s not a permanent addition, but Xbox hasn’t revealed how long it will be available for free to subscribers. However, as long as it’s available through Xbox Game Pass, subscribers can purchase it directly with a special 20 percent discount. In this case, this means you pay €24.99 instead of the full asking price of €29.99.

“In South Park: The Fractured But Whole, players will delve into the crime-ridden underbelly of South Park with Coon and Friends,” reads an official description of the game for those unfamiliar. “This dedicated group of crime fighters was formed by Eric Cartman whose superhero alter-ego, The Coon, is half human, half raccoon. As New Kid, players will join Mysterion, Toolshed, Human Kite and a host of others to battle the forces of evil, as Coon strives to make his team the most beloved superheroes in history.
