Benton County Shipping Report: October 11-17

BENTON COUNTY, Tenn. – Following are complete dispatch reports from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Oct. 11 – Oct. 17.

Friday October 11

HOLIDAY / SUGAR TREE AREA

  • Deputies responded to the report of an assault that was not in progress. The complainant reported a physical altercation between a female subject and an employee. Officers arrived on scene and viewed the video footage. The deputy commissioner said it was a verbal dispute and there was no physical abuse. The deputy said everything was fine. No report made.
  • The deputy responded to the report of a burglary. The complainant advised that a male suspect was on the complainant’s property. Officer contacted the male subject and advised him to sit elsewhere.
  • Officers responded to the report of child abuse/neglect. The complainant reported that a female subject had punched a young child in the face. Officers made contact with the female subject and her two children. The deputy said everything was fine and that the mother did discipline the child, but nothing more than that.
  • Deputies responded to the report that civil unrest was underway. The complainant reported that a female subject struck the complainant in the eye. The complainant stated that he did not wish to file a report. The councilor spoke with both parties. The councilor advised not to take any action at this time.

CAMDEN AREA

  • Officer responded to the report of a reckless driver. The complainant reported that a truck drove across the roadway and almost struck another vehicle. The deputy advised they sighted the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Police said the motorist had received a warning.
  • The deputy responded to the report of theft. The complainant reported that his car had been broken into and items had been taken. The deputy took a report.
  • The deputy responded to the report of theft. The complainant stated that a firearm had been stolen. The deputy received the report.
  • Officers responded to reports of a domestic disturbance in progress. The complainant reported that their stepfather was drunk and causing a disturbance. Deputy arrested Kevin Dean Simpson on assault, domestic charge.
  • Officers responded to the report of a stroke. The complainant said they thought they were having a stroke. The deputy advises that EMS transported the complainant.

  • Deputy, paramedics and THP responded to the report of an accident: no injuries. THP took over the report.

LARGE SANDY AREA

  • Deputies responded to the report of ongoing civil disturbances. The complainant reported that her husband threw things and threatened her. Complainant reported that the man attempted to leave before LE arrived. Deputies have contacted both parties. The deputy said the man had calmed down and agreed to take his medication.
  • Deputies, paramedics and coroner responded to the report of a deceased person. The complainant reported that she had not seen the man who lived on their property for several days. The complainant reported that they found the deceased man in the RV when they went to check on him. Deputies advised that EMS transported the deceased.

Saturday October 12

HOLIDAY / SUGAR TREE AREA

  • Deputies, THP, EMS, BC Rescue Squad, Holladay McIllwain FD, South 40 FD, Air Evac and Life Flight responded to the report of a multi-vehicle crash with injuries on I-40 EB at MM129. Police said one lane would be closed. THP took the accident report. Air Evac and Life Flight transported patients.

LARGE SANDY AREA

  • Deputies, THP, EMS and AirEvac responded to the crash injury report. The deputy said the patient was transported by Air Evac.
  • Big Sandy officers conducted a traffic stop. Ray Page Anderson arrested on (Stewart Co) violation of the probationary period depositdriving with a suspended license and financial responsibility.

Sunday October 13

HOLIDAY / SUGAR TREE AREA

CAMDEN AREA

  • Deputies and paramedics responded to the report of a four-wheel crash with injuries. EMS transported the patient.
  • The deputy responded to the report of a neighbor problem. The complainant said their neighbor’s driveway and part of the roadway were blocked with tires and other items. The deputy spoke with the neighbor and reported that the neighbor moved everything without any problems.

Monday October 14th

Vacation/Sugar Tree area

  • Nothing to report for this area.

Camden area

  • Officers, paramedics and CFD responded to an ambulance assistance call. The caller said they found their father trying to commit suicide. Emergency crews and emergency responders arrived on scene as CFD established a landing zone for the air dredger. Male subject was taken to hospital via Air Vac.
  • Officers responded to a call about multiple mailboxes being broken in the same area. Officers arrived on scene and advised they had gone to multiple homes to speak with the homeowners. This is being investigated.
  • Deputy, paramedics and CFD responded to an ambulance assistance call. The caller said they were driving down the road and found a man driving on the shoulder. EMS and emergency services arrived on scene and CFD worked to obtain a landing zone for the air piston. Male subject was taken to hospital via Air Vac.
  • Officers responded to a call about a vehicle seizure. The caller said they had paid for the car, but the repossessing company said they had not. Officers arrived on scene and found evidence that the caller had failed to make payment and the vehicle had been taken.

Tuesday October 15

HOLIDAY / SUGAR TREE AREA

  • The deputy responded to the report of a neighbor problem. The complainant reported that a neighbor had parked his RV on the complainant’s property and would not move it when the complainant requested it. The neighbor was not home at the time of the report. The officer contacted the neighbor and informed them of their options.
  • The deputy responded to the report of a dispute. The complainant reported that a female subject threw items at a customer in the parking lot and entered the area on foot. The deputy checked that area but did not make any contact with the female subject. The deputy said the woman will be banned at the complainant’s request when she is contacted.
  • Deputies and THP responded to the report of an accident. The complainant reported that a car was vandalized with no one around. Officers contacted the driver at his nearby home. THP took over the report.

CAMDEN AREA

  • Officer responded to the report of animals on the roadway. The complainant reported that there were five horses on the roadway. The owner of the horses was contacted. The deputy said the owner was able to get the horses back on the property.
  • Officer and THP responded to the report of a crash: no injuries involving two vehicles and a deer. The deputy advised one shot was fired to kill the wounded deer. THP took the accident report.

LARGE SANDY AREA

  • Police responded to the report of suspicious activity. The complainant reported that two teenage boys on a four-wheeler were throwing mud on passing cars. Officer made contact with a father of one of the teens, who advised him to have a conversation with his son.
  • Officer responded to the report of a burglary that was not in progress. According to the complainant, a man tried to break into a car. Aubrey Aviles arrested for criminal trespass, possession of schedule IV and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wednesday October 16

HOLIDAY / SUGAR TREE AREA

CAMDEN AREA

  • The deputy responded to the request to speak/see an officer. The deputy answered the complainant’s call and advised that they wanted a female subject to be robbed of their property. The deputy contacted the female subject and issued her a trespass warning.
  • Officers, paramedics and coroner responded to the report of a deceased person.
  • Deputy and THP responded to the report of an accident. The complainant reported that a semi-truck pulled down a pole and internet lines as it drove through the area. THP took over the report.
  • Deputies responded to the report that a civil unrest was underway. The complainant stated that a female neighbor requested that someone call LE because a male subject had beaten her up. Delegates made contact with both male and female parties. The deputy advised that there would be a twelve-hour party separation.
  • Deputies assisted Camden PD, THP and EMS with the report of injuries from two vehicles. The complainant reported that a car struck his parked truck from behind. Witnesses reported seeing the female suspect leaving the scene on foot. Officers and K-9 were in the area on foot following the female subject. The deputy advised the K-9 located the subject. The deputy said EMS transported the female for medical treatment. THP took over the report.
  • Deputies responded to the request for a welfare check. The complainant reported that a male friend posted a statement online expressing concern for the friend’s well-being. The complainant said they were unable to reach the friend by phone or get an answer when there was a knock on the door. The deputy said contact had been made and everything was fine. The deputy advised that the male friend was not a danger/harm to himself or others in any way.
  • Officers conducted a traffic stop. Deputy arrested Dennis Hatley on simple possession sch II meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, minor violation and driving with a suspended license – 4th.
