21-year-old woman sentenced to life in prison for murdering teenager

A York woman was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison for killing an 18-year-old on New Year’s Eve in 2022, the York County district attorney’s office said.

Alajah E. Holmes, 21, pleaded guilty to murder in August after police said she fatally shot Amiya Paige, 18, on Dec. 31, 2022, the district attorney’s office said. Holmes did not dispute the accusation that she fired the shot that killed Paige, the district attorney’s office said.

President of the Court of Common Pleas Judge Maria Musti Cook sentenced Holmes on Wednesday. Cook found Holmes guilty of first-degree murder after a guilt hearing.
