Man sentenced to life in prison for Christmas murder in Montbello

A man was sentenced Thursday to life in prison without the possibility of parole for a 2022 shooting that left another man dead in Denver’s Montbello neighborhood.

Dydrick Martin, 27, was convicted Oct. 11 of first-degree murder for the Christmas Day killing of Torrese Gill, Jr., 25, according to court documents and a news release from the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

Police found Gill with a gunshot wound in the 4800 block of North Crown Boulevard, and Gill was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

“Judge (Eric) Johnson’s sentence will ensure that Dydrick Martin is held accountable for his actions and that he will never be free to commit other crimes,” District Attorney Beth McCann said in the news release.
