Thomas’ comment reaffirmed India’s position that there is no Indian government involvement in Nijjar’s murder and that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s “baseless” allegations are part of his government’s smear campaign against New Delhi.

Canada’s former National Security Advisor (NSA) Jody Thomas has said that initial intelligence and police investigations had suggested that Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar was killed in retaliation for the murder of Ripudaman Singh Malik, who was accused of involvement in the Air India Kanishka bombing in 1985.

Thomas’ comment reaffirmed India’s position that there is no Indian government involvement in Nijjar’s murder and that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s “baseless” allegations are part of his government’s smear campaign against New Delhi.

Notably, Thomas was Canada’s NSA at the time Nijjar was shot in Surrey last year. The former NSA’s comments came after she appeared before Canada’s foreign interference inquiry and claimed that certain members of Canada’s Sikh community were unhappy with the assessment that Nijjar’s murder was a tit for tat for Malik’s murder .
