Motorcyclist faces 40 charges after posting videos while speeding

Motorcyclist drove as fast as 250 km/h, putting others at risk for more ‘power on social media’, police say

A 40-year-old man from Bolton is facing more than 40 charges after filming himself on his motorcycle traveling at 155mph while fleeing from officers from York Regional Police.

Police published a video on X, formerly Twitter, detailing the arrest Thursday and saying he endangered his life and others because of “social media power.”

The captions in the video read: “I’m feeling a little crazy today.” He then speeds past a police cruiser with the caption “Whoopsy.” Silly of me.” and a laughing face emoji.

Officers stopped the man at an Esso gas station and asked where his license plate was. He fled from police and weaved through vehicles at high speed.

York Regional Police partnered with Peel Regional Police on Project Splitting Eagle after becoming aware of an online social media channel where multiple videos of a motorcyclist driving dangerously and at high speeds without due regard were posted between June and September concern for public safety. to a press release from Peel Regional Police.

Police say the driver has posted several videos of himself driving. The videos show him racing on a gray motorcycle, weaving between lanes at high speed and reaching speeds of up to 258 km/h.

Gregory Harrington, 40, from Bolton, faces 36 charges from York Regional Police and 15 charges from Peel Regional Police for his previous videos. His driver’s license was confiscated and his 2014 Yamaha R6 motorcycle was seized. He was held for a bail hearing and appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
