Hotel rioters in Rotherham were jailed for a total of 150 years

People jailed for their role during the South Yorkshire riots have been sentenced to a total of around 150 years in prison, records show.

Widespread disorder left more than 60 police officers injured when the Holiday Inn Express in Manvers, Rotherham, was attacked on August 4.

Since then, 89 people have been charged with crimes related to the violence so far, according to South Yorkshire Police.

Of this total, 74 have pleaded guilty to offences, of which 70 have been sentenced to prison terms or youth referral orders, BBC data shows.
