Thomas Tuchel was a charismatic and successful leader at Chelsea and wrote himself into history by winning the Champions League in 2021.

The German was keen to stay long-term in Roman Abramovich’s squad, which consisted of key figures including Marina Granovskaia and Petr Cech.

However, a rift soon emerged after the two left following an ownership change under the ownership of Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, leading to his departure in September 2022.

During his time at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel was exceptional in the English media, worked well with the club’s academy talent and was popular with the supporters.

It’s fair to say that Tuchel also fell in love with English football during his time in West London and set his sights on a return to management in this country.
