Tamzin Outhwaite has declared she is ‘getting rid of men and seeking solitude’ as she opened up about her split from actor Tom Child.

The New Tricks star, 53, revealed on a Suddenly One Episode podcast that the relationship with her younger partner, 33, just came to a natural end.

She explained that after their romance ended, she felt like she owed it to herself to explore life as a single woman.

The actress told podcast hosts Tim Vincent and Siobhan Wykes: ‘I’ve had six and a half wonderful years and I think back on them fondly and I think we’ll always know each other.

“It was the most mature, respectful and humane breakup ever.”

She continued, “The idea of ​​a date fills me with horror, the awkwardness of it all. Even if someone like Brad Pitt came along and wanted to take me out, I’d say, ‘No’.”

She also said that she would much rather focus on herself right now and that she doesn’t want to share her life with anyone other than her children.

She added: ‘I hate the idea of ​​being with the same person for the rest of my life.’

Tamzin confirmed she had split from her boyfriend Tom last month after six years together.

The former couple met at a yoga class in 2017 but split earlier this summer.

Tom was her first serious relationship after her difficult 2014 divorce from Lucifer and Miranda star Tom Ellis.

Tamzin and Lucifer actor Tom, 45, married in 2006 and have two children; Florence, 16, and Marnie, 11.

The marriage is said to have ended after he confessed to an affair with Australian actress Emilie de Ravin while they were working together on US TV show Once Upon A Time in 2013.

Tamzin was introduced to Tom in 2005 by his longtime friend, actor James McAvoy, who appeared on stage with the actress.

After nine years of marriage, they were quickly divorced in 2014, leaving Tamzin heartbroken.

“Tamzin couldn’t believe Tom’s betrayal and was distraught,” a source told The Sun in 2016.

“She was thrilled that he would go to America and continue his career without Miranda’s support while she raised their two daughters, and this is how he repaid her.”

Tamzin told Essentials magazine in 2015: “I wouldn’t be with my husband on a one-night stand, that’s all I can say” – suggesting their split was the result of more than just a single mistake.

The actress said she did not want to reveal the exact details of their problems for fear of hurting their children.
