Strictly’s Katya Jones and Wynne Evans shared a cake on Wednesday as the duo joked around during training and continued to put on a united performance, insisting all was well between them.

The opera singer, 52, also gave the professional dancer, 35, a lift as they enjoyed a mountain walk together in Wales.

The pair have come under fire after defending an awkward altercation during Saturday’s show, when Katya took his hand away from her waist and snubbed a high-five.

Both Wynne and Katya insisted the ‘hand incident’ was the result of an unexplained ‘in-joke’, with the BBC later confirming that ‘Katya was not offended’ and that the ‘welfare and production teams had checked in with both of them’ .

Despite the controversy, the pair appear to be in good spirits as they prepare to hit the dance floor again this week.

Domestic abuse charity Women’s Aid joined the debate and has heavily criticized the BBC following the ‘groping’ scandal.

In a statement to The Sun, they said: ‘With an epidemic of misogyny and violence against women and girls in Britain, we need a media culture where women feel safe to speak out, where sexually inappropriate behavior is not trivialized or where are joked about.

“It is important that we challenge inappropriate ‘jokes’ so that we do not continue to normalize toxic attitudes that cultivate these forms of gender-based abuse.”
