Prosecutors charged Castillo after police in Kansas City, Mo., found him with a gun. A witness told officers that Castillo grabbed one of the handguns used in the shooting and began walking away, according to court records.

Court records show police interviewed Castillo. During the interview, Castillo told investigators that he had been at Union Station with friends to celebrate the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory. He was on his way to the toilet when he heard what he thought were fireworks before seeing others fleeing the area.

He walked away from the area but eventually returned to the restroom. Court records show that’s when he told officers he saw a black handgun on the ground and picked it up.
