Breaux Bridge man charged in child abuse case

St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Breaux Bridge man and accused him of using money or gifts to induce minors to have sex with him.

Javien Demouchet, 32, was booked with 59 counts of trafficking children for sexual purposes.

All of these charges involve the same child, officers say.

The investigation began in July, when they received a complaint of suspected indecent behavior with a minor. After the investigation, officers obtained an arrest warrant and arrested Demouchet, Sheriff Becket Breaux said.

The investigation into other child victims remains ongoing, which will lead to additional charges, the sheriff says.
