A former special agent at the FBI’s Louisville office is suing a current employee and the bureau, and she hopes to get her job back.

Dal Rae Beach filed a lawsuit in Jefferson Circuit Court against the assistant special agent in charge of the FBI’s Louisville office, Quincy Barnett, accusing him of sexual harassment and retaliation. A civil summons was sent to the suspects on Monday.

According to court records, Beach helped Barnett secure his current job at the FBI Louisville Field Office after being asked for a recommendation by the special agent in charge, James Robert Brown. When Beach received her assignment in January 2020, she noticed a “lack of diversity in management,” so she recommended Barnett, an African-American man who works in the FBI office in Oklahoma.

The lawsuit alleges that after Barnett arrived in Louisville, “relentless sexual harassment” began “immediately,” according to court records. Beach said he would call her after hours, force hugs between them, suggest sexual relations between Beach and her married employees and call her “baby girl.”

Barnett also allegedly once told Beach in his office that she was “too tight and needed to have sex” to lower her work standards, the complaint states, and some of the harassment occurred in front of other employees.

The alleged misconduct was reported to the FBI and an investigation was conducted in which Barnett was “exonerated.” Beach claims the FBI and Barnett began retaliating against her, calling her “untruthful” about a domestic violence proceeding involving “an individual with whom she was in a relationship,” as well as during an investigation into the claims. As a result, she was fired in February 2024.

The complaint lists one count of sexual harassment, creating a “hostile work environment,” one count of retaliation and one count of collusion or breach of confidentiality.

Beach is seeking reinstatement to her former position, compensation for lost wages, compensation for “humiliation, embarrassment and mental anguish” and a jury trial.

The FBI would not comment on the lawsuit due to Justice Department policy, spokesperson Sara Anderson said.
