Ellis confirms the air date for the Doctor Who and Outlander detective drama

Ellis also stars Outlander’s Andrew Gower as DCI Lewis’ professional partner DS Harper, with the show following the pair as they are parachuted in to try to solve a number of different cases that have stalled or gone wrong.

“Each two-hour episode sees Ellis – accompanied by her right-hand man DS Harper – arriving at a different police station, where she will have to win over the local detectives and delve into the cases she has come to solve,” the official said synopsis reads.

“As a black female officer, Ellis is accustomed to being dismissed and overlooked, but she is a first-rate murder detective, with a determination for justice and a deep well of compassion for those who need it.”

Channel 5 revealed two initial images of the drama in August, one showing DCI Ellis standing in what appears to be a police station corridor looking pensively out of a window and the other showing her and DS Harper , leaning over a window. corpse in the middle of a crime scene.

The series will consist of three feature-length episodes and is written by Paul Logue (known for his work on Shetland and Vera) and Sian Ejiwunmi-Le Berre, who recently adapted Agatha Christie’s Murder Is Easy for the BBC.

A three-time Olivier Award winner, Clarke is known to TV audiences for her long-running role in Holby City and roles in Doctor Who, where she played Ryan’s grandmother Grace, and Showtrial. Informer and the Prime Video film Red, White & Royal Blue.

Meanwhile, Gower’s other credits – in addition to the role of Prince Charles Stuart in Outlander – include Being Human, Carnival Row and You, as well as the Black Mirror episode Crocodile.

Ellis airs on Channel 5 on Thursday, October 31 at 8pm.
