East New York man sentenced to 8 years for attempted sexual assault in Williamsburg home invasion

An East New York man will serve prison time for attempting to sexually assault a woman as she slept in her Williamsburg bedroom five years ago, the Brooklyn district attorney’s office announced Tuesday. Brooklyn Supreme Court Judge Heidi Cesare sentenced 29-year-old Akijah Hall to eight years in prison and 15 years of post-release supervision in connection with the 2019 attack, in which the victim’s screams alerted her roommate, who was struggling with the defendant and ultimately caused him to flee.
