Daniel Paduchowski: Flagstaff man sentenced to prison for murdering his wife

Daniel Paduchowski, a Flagstaff man who authorities say is admitted to killing his wifeheard his sentence on October 15.

In court, a judge sentenced Paduchowski to 16 years behind bars. He is not eligible for any form of parole.

Paduchowski was arrested in June for the murder of his wife Kelly. He initially reported his wife missing in the Flagstaff area, but shortly thereafter police declared the case suspicious and arrested Daniel.

As part of an agreement, Paduchowski pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, and led police to Kelly’s body and other evidence.

A motive for the killing was also revealed in court Tuesday, as loved ones said Kelly was divorcing Daniel and told him so. It was also revealed that Daniel tired of covering up the murder by texting Kelly’s mother on her phone, and took it for a ride to suggest she was still alive.

During Tuesday’s proceedings, Daniel admitted to the judge that he felt something overcame him when he killed his wife and told her family he was sorry. In court, Kelly’s loved ones said she was a kind, courageous and loving mother. After the court adjourned, a statement was read on their behalf.

“The family thanks law enforcement for the investigation and the Attorney General’s Office, and is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support,” part of the statement read.

Daniel was convicted of other charges surrounding the death, and those sentences will run concurrently with the 16-year prison sentence.
