Child taken to hospital after being knocked down near Glasgow Primary School

A child has been taken to hospital after being knocked down near a primary school in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to Cumberland Street outside Blackfriars Primary School in the Gorbals area at around 3pm on Tuesday, following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.

Two paramedic response units, a critical care paramedic, an ambulance and a trauma team, were sent to the scene and the child was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children.

Police have cordoned off the area and remain on site. The child’s condition is currently unknown.

A spokesperson said: “Emergency services are attending a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian which occurred in Cumberland Street, Glasgow at around 3.05pm on Tuesday, October 15.”

An SAS spokesperson added: “We received a call at 3.08pm today to attend an incident in Cumberland Street in Glasgow.

“We have deployed two paramedic response units, a critical care paramedic, an ambulance and our trauma team to the scene.

“Our first responders arrived on scene within three minutes and we transported a child patient to the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow.”
