Man jailed for sexual conduct with a minor dies after fight: ADCRR

PHOENIX – Officials with the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry announced Monday the death of an inmate after a fight with another inmate.

In a statement, ADCRR officials identified the inmate as 43-year-old Michael Dunbar. Dunbar was incarcerated in the Arizona State Prison Complez – Eyman.

“Inmate Dunbar was taken into custody by the ADCRR in 1998 after being convicted out of Maricopa County for sexual conduct involving mild and indecent exposure,” part of the statement read. “The end date of his sentence was June 15, 2038.”

Jail records show Dunbar has multiple disciplinary violations, including violations for assaulting inmates in 2010, 2024, 2019 and 2023.
