Escaped prisoner from Southern Colorado captured after hours of search

CANON CITY, Colo. (KKTV) – After a several-hour search, an inmate was captured after escaping from a Fremont County jail.

The Colorado Department of Corrections reported the escape of 34-year-old Leaf Glimpse on Monday morning.

“Upon discovery of the escape, the Canon City Search Team was immediately activated and the Office of the Inspector General is conducting an investigation into the incident. Police have been notified and a search is currently underway,” a press release said.

Glimpse escaped from the Arrowhead Correctional Center in the East Canon Complex, where he was serving an eight-year sentence for burglary. Glimpse was considered a minimally restrictive inmate.

Glimpse was found on CDOC property after “an intensive and highly coordinated search.”

The CDOC said they worked with local law enforcement agencies and caught Glimpse around 6 p.m.

“Public safety remains CDOC’s top priority, and we are grateful for the support of our law enforcement partners who have helped make this happen,” the CDOC said.
