Renukaswamy murder case: Darshan Thoogudeepa and Pavithra Gowda denied bail

Darshan Thoogudeepa and his alleged girlfriend Pavithra Gowda, who were recently embroiled in the alleged murder of 33-year-old Renukaswamy, have been denied bail. A sessions court in Bengaluru took this decision on October 14, 2024. Besides Darshan and Pavithra, their bail plea was also rejected, while two others, Ravishankar and Deepak, were granted bail.
According to a report by India Today, the court’s ruling comes after a detailed hearing in which the defense argued that eyewitnesses had been manipulated by the police. However, the court did not side with Darshan and Pavithra, who are now expected to approach the Supreme Court for relief.

Renukaswamy was a 33-year-old devoted fan of Darshan and was allegedly murdered after sending inappropriate messages to Pavithra. It is said that the victim sent messages suggesting that Pavithra was damaging Darshan’s marriage. This did not fit well with the ‘Challenging star“, He then allegedly orchestrated the murder of the victim, during which he, along with several accomplices, confronted Renukaswamy. His body was discovered near a stormwater drain in Bengaluru on June 9, 2024, and showed signs of severe assault.
Following the investigation, police arrested Darshan, Pavithra and fifteen others on June 11.
