MasterChef’s Gregg Wallace addresses the claim of inappropriate behavior

MasterChef’s Gregg Wallace has addressed an inappropriate behavior claim made about him in 2018.

The TV presenter and competition judge was at the center of a BBC investigation into the panel show Impossible Celebrities six years ago. He was accused of making inappropriate comments to a younger woman and taking off his top in her presence.

After the story ran as a front-page story in The Sun this weekend, Wallace responded in a now-deleted Instagram video (archived via Metro).

“With reference to what has been reported in the newspapers, these allegations were investigated by the BBC six years ago and my comments were not found to be sexual. I repeat, not sexual. Thank you,” he said.

“Another thing I feel very strongly about, strongly enough to be here, no one has accused me of flirting with someone or hitting someone six years ago or since, and that’s important to me, and I say this for my woman (Anne-Marie Sterpini), with whom I have been married and madly in love since the day I met her.

“I don’t want anyone to misunderstand this and give the impression that I was flirting with someone. No one has accused me of that and I never have.”

A statement from the BBC in the tabloid’s story said: “While we do not comment on individuals, any concerns that arise will be dealt with promptly and appropriately.

“We do not tolerate any form of inappropriate behavior and have robust processes in place.”

Wallace declined to comment to The Sun. Digital spy has also reached out to Wallace’s representatives for comment.

Last year there were reports that Wallace was “rude to staff” and “talked in a derogatory manner, especially to women” on his show Inside the Factory.

He denied leaving the show because of the allegations, but admitted there was a “feud” during production.
