Lansing real estate agent convicted in Shiawassee County of sexual abuse with child

CORUNNA – John DeMarco, a 64-year-old real estate agent in Lansing, was sentenced Friday to a maximum of 20 years in prison on charges of sexual abuse involving a child.

Shiawassee County Circuit Court Judge Matthew Stewart handed down a sentence of 30 to 240 months, according to online court records.

DeMarco pleaded guilty on August 29 to one count of persuading, enticing or knowingly permitting a child to engage in sexual abuse for the purpose of producing sexually abusive material.

Other charges of computer communications to commit a crime, soliciting a child for immoral purposes and weapons were dismissed, records show.

DeMarco was indicted on the charges in January. His attorney, Chris Wickman, could not be reached for comment.

DeMarco was arrested Thursday at the Shiawassee County Jail.
