After warning from Nihang Sikhs, the Kulhad Pizza couple appeals to Akal Takht for safety

AMRITSAR: Amid ongoing controversies arising out of an inappropriate video that surfaced last year, Sehaj Arora and Gurpreet Kaur – commonly known as the Kulhad Pizza Couple – have appealed to the Akal Takhtthe highest temporary seat of Sikhs, to ensure their safety. This follows objections from a group Nihangs about Sehaj Arora’s continued posting of ‘indecent’ videos on social mediawhich they believe is contrary to Sikh Principles.
In a 50-second video shared on social media, turban-wearing Sehaj Arora is seen with his wife, Gurpreet Kaur, who has her head covered with a dupatta. He says he will approach the Akal Takht and submit an application to the Jathedar from Akal Takht, asking if he can continue to wear a turban. He also said that he would seek the Jathedar’s help for his and his family’s safety.
“In recent days, questions have arisen as to whether I can continue to wear a turban. To address this, I go to the Akal Takht with my family and submit an application. If I am wrong, I accept that I must be punished. However, when something goes wrong with me and my family, we deserve to be heard. I am confident that we will receive justice as the Akal Takht is the highest authority for Sikhs and can distinguish right from wrong,” said Arora.
In the recent past, a group of Nihangs staged a strong protest outside the restaurant Kulhad pizza couple in Jalandharclaiming that the viral inappropriate videos shared by the Kulhad Pizza Couple have a negative impact on children. They stated that if the Kulhad Pizza Couple deletes all their videos from social media platforms, that would be acceptable. Otherwise, they warned that they would not allow them to post such “offensive” videos on social media while wearing a turban. They also told him to stop wearing the turban, and after that they would no longer object to the videos they make.
In the video, Arora appealed to the Jathedar of Akal Takht and the police to ensure the safety of himself and his family and ensure that their restaurant in Jalandhar is not inconvenienced or harassed. time and time again.
When contacted, Talwinder Singh Bhuttar, media advisor at the Akal Takht Secretariatsaid that the secretariat has not received any application from Kulhad Pizza Couple so far and only heard about it through social media.
