Country singer interrupts concert to help woman give birth

TUPELO, Miss. (Gray News) – A country singer had to cut short his own concert after his wife gave birth to their third child, apparently on the tour bus.

Shortly after starting his concert Friday night, Brantley Gilbert was called away due to “a backstage emergency,” according to a video posted to the “Bottoms Up” singer’s social media pages. The video shows him leaving the room.

It turns out that his wife, Amber Cochran Gilbert, was giving birth to the couple’s third child, apparently on the singer’s tour bus. The newborn and his parents are seen in photos throughout the video.

Also in the video, Brantley Gilbert briefly calls his mother to tell her she has “a new grandbaby.” He then tells her that he has to go because he has a concert to finish, and he will call her back later.

When the 39-year-old singer returns to the stage, he announces to the audience, “We’re having a baby.” Everyone bursts into cheers.

The video is based on Brantley Gilbert’s 2019 song “Man That Hung the Moon,” about a father’s love for his son, according to Today.com.

“So last night might have been the craziest night of my life. Seeing such an amazing woman do something so amazing is something I will never forget,” the singer wrote on social media.

He and his wife announced their pregnancy earlier in May.
