A Wyoming County man has pleaded guilty to attempting to commit a crime

OCEANA, WV (WVNS) – A Wyoming County man pleaded guilty to attempting to commit a crime.

According to a news release, 67-year-old Tommy Ray Wilson of Kopperston pleaded guilty on October 9, 2024 to attempting to commit a crime.

Members of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a stolen car in the Oceana area of ​​Wyoming County on July 2, 2024. Law enforcement officials were informed by a witness that Wilson entered her home without permission, took her father’s car keys, and then took her father’s car.

The witness’s father told law enforcement members that Wilson did not have permission to take the car, and law enforcement members stated that Wilson said he planned to return the car after he got married.

Wilson’s sentencing is scheduled for November 19, 2024, and he faces a prison sentence of one to three years.
