(Society) A 20-year-old man sentenced to seven years in prison for selling deepfake and sexually exploiting children as minors.

A 20-year-old man who made a large sum of money from the sale of illegal deepfake connections by famous celebrities and the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents as minors was sentenced to prison.

The Uijeongbu District Court sentenced A, a man in his 20s, to seven years in prison on charges of violating the Child and Youth Sex Protection Act, and ordered the seizure of 100 million won in virtual currency and another 320 million won in cash .

Mr A was accused of advertising child and adolescent sexual exploitation and deepfake videos on pornographic sites more than 1,700 times a year as of July 2022, when he was a teenager.

A was found to have earned more than 400 million won by receiving 50% of the profits when people who saw the ad paid to use foreign internet companies.

There were 54 confirmed victims of illegal filming alone, with some posting fake video recordings in which the faces of famous celebrities were edited and synthesized.

The court explained that A had started the crime when he was a minor and was somewhat immature in his judgment, taking into account the fact that he agreed with twelve people.
