Erling Haaland confirms emotional news after Man City star breaks Norwegian record | Football | Sport

Erling Haaland announced he and his partner Isabel Haugseng Johansen are having their first child after becoming Norway’s all-time top scorer on Thursday. The Manchester City forward confirmed the exciting news on a record night in the UEFA Nations League.

Norway defeated Slovenia 3-0 in Oslo to move top of League B, Group 3 ahead of Austria, their most recent opponents, and Kazakhstan at the halfway point.

Haaland, captaining his country during Martin Odegaard’s injury absence, equaled Jorgen Juve’s record with his first goal before eclipsing it by completing his brace.

The 24-year-old broke the deadlock after seven minutes after Slovenian goalkeeper Jan Oblak could only parry a long-range strike into his path.

Unmarked in the penalty area, Haaland fired a first-time right-footed strike through Oblak’s legs, much to the delight of the Ullevaal Stadium crowd.

Alexander Sorloth doubled the hosts’ lead shortly after half-time before setting up Haaland’s second just after the hour and finding the bottom left corner with his stronger foot.

That was his 34th goal for Norway in 36 caps, an astonishing rate that helped him surpass Juve’s tally of 35, the last of which he scored in 1934.

Juve represented his country 45 times between 1927 and 1938, and his goalscoring record was the longest-standing of all 211 FIFA member countries.

It is the latest record that Haaland has already broken this season, after scoring the most goals in the first three games of a Premier League season with seven goals.

He also shattered Micky Quinn’s 22-year-old record by becoming the fastest player to reach the ten-goal mark, taking just five games.

After a full-time stay in Norway, Haaland confirmed on social media that he was expecting his first child with Haugseng Johansen.

The City No. 9 posted a photo of himself sucking his thumb with the ball under his shirt, captioning it with a baby emoji and a coming soon emoji.

“There are now many fathers in the team. The national coach will have a bright future in 25 years,” joked Norwegian manager Stale Solbakken.

Meanwhile, close friend and teammate Sander Berge told Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet: “I’m very happy for him.

“It’s really nice to know that he will become a father together with his partner Isabel. I look forward to following their journey as parents.”

Haaland will look to extend his gap to Juve when Norway travel to Linz to play Austria on Sunday.
