Nursery where children are ’emotionally ready to learn’ gets ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted report

Birchfield Prepcare Nursery, based on the grounds of Birchfield Prep School near Albrighton, was visited by the education watchdog on September 5.

Inspectors were impressed with the nursery and the 21 staff who care for children aged six weeks to five years old all year round. The nursery benefits from the school’s facilities including a gym, library, computer room, dance studio and outdoor swimming pool.

Leaders at the centre, which is registered for 65 children, were praised in the report, with the nursery rated ‘Outstanding’ across the board and in all categories, namely the quality of teaching, behavior and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management. .

The report states that leaders are “diligent and driven to make continuous improvements” in the nursery and “have an expert understanding of children’s development and use this to build the essential knowledge and skills that children need to acquire in every room ”.

The ‘Outstanding’ rating is an upgrade from the previous ‘Good’ rating the nursery received following an inspection in 2019.

The latest Ofsted report says: “Leaders and staff have extremely high ambition for what children can achieve as they progress through each of the five rooms. This means that all children are fully equipped with all the essential skills and knowledge they need to succeed. their next developmental milestone and when they will start school.

“The curriculum is carefully mapped so that children can continually build on what they already know, understand and can do. Leaders work closely with the local school to provide preschoolers with a comprehensive curriculum to enhance the already excellent repertoire of learning experiences within the expand the school.

“This includes participating in music sessions, physical development activities and experiencing languages ​​in addition to English. During the pre-school year, leaders ensure that children eat their lunch in the school hall every day with the reception children.

“Children embrace this new experience with confidence and understand the expectations of lunch routines, displaying exemplary manners.

“Leaders and staff are skilled in supporting children’s emotional development and this plays a key role in their curriculum. They have a tailor-made scheme for each child.
