By now, after years of covering hurricanes and snowstorms, it’s not too far-fetched to say that Jim Cantore is the most famous weatherman in the world.

He likes to put himself in danger and followers of the Weather Channel like to watch Jim when he is in danger.

More: Where’s Jim Cantore? It is located in SW FL, near Lee and Collier counties, which cover Milton

It happened again on Wednesday (October 9) as Hurricane Wilton approached the west coast of Florida. As the day went on, it became increasingly clear that the massive storm would make landfall in the Sarasota area. Cantore was moved from Tampa to Charlotte County so he could be in the middle of it all. The storm made landfall in Siesta Key at 8:30 p.m

Where specifically did Cantore end up? He and his crew were stationed in a parking garage at the Sunseeker Resort on Charlotte Harbor. During his time in the parking garage, Cantore showed viewers how the storm surge steadily increased and took over the first floor of the garage.

At one point he showed his cameraman the cars parked on the second floor, away from danger. During part of his reporting, Cantore noticed that he heard a strange noise. A loud buzzing. He later reported that it was a transformer that exploded and that the parking garage had been switched to power via a generator.
